Spirit of the Rainmaker is one of Howard Terpning's most requested
and anxiously
awaited images. As part of Terpning's exhibition at the 1990 Cowboy
Artists of America
show, the image impressed collectors and peers alike with its drama and
contributed to
Terpning's being honored with that year's Stetson Award for "Best Overall
Show by a
Single Artist."
