In this Cavalry scene of the mid-1880's, troops have been caught in the open by a very large Indian force and are heading for higher ground to defend themselves.  They can hear the chilling war cries of more attackers, as yet unseen, coming over the hill in the distance. Just such a desperate situation had resulted in the massacre of General George Custer and his entire command.  It was that which inspired my thought for this print.
